WHO ARE WE?
LAURA BEILKE
After growing up very active in sports including year round swimmer/coach/instructor, cross country and rowing, I was lost during college when I was no longer on a team of any kind – all I had was the gym for exercise. So naturally, I picked up running. I ran for miles and miles outside, I’d claim at treadmill at the gym and do so much cardio to “sweat out all the calories”. I knew very little about nutrition and as far as weightlifting was concerned, that was too intimidating and for YEARS I believed the age old myth that “lifting weights will make you bulky” (FALSE!!!) My self confidence was at an all time low – I didn’t feel comfortable in bathing suits, didn’t like the way my clothes fit, and didn’t recognize the person in the mirror. One of the hardest parts is knowing that it takes time – and for a good part of my life, I just wanted the quick fix.
It wasn’t until I met Brooks that my perspective on this completely changed. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I woke up one morning and realized I wanted to CHANGE. It took time, and hard work. There are no shortcuts. But prioritizing your health is the most important thing you can do. I began to fix my relationship with food and Brooks helped me realize that there is more than one way to “exercise”. Whatever that is for you, DO IT! Fast forward 7 years later, and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve gone running. Find movement you that you love, find what challenges you, MAKE IT FUN, and most importantly find people who are in your corner & cheer you on towards those goals and I promise, you will love the process way more than the destination.
BROOKS BEILKE
Having an active lifestyle has always been a big priority in my life. I always had an interest in sports and fitness being a three-sport athlete in high school and a collegiate baseball player. That interest quickly turned into a passion as it influenced me to pursue a degree in exercise science and to obtain my personal training certificate. Health and fitness isn’t just a thing Laura and I do – it’s a lifestyle. We enjoy spending time together in the gym, encouraging & challenging one another, experiencing failures and celebrating one another’s personal records and achievements. Just like I do with Laura, I find a joy in using my own experiences and education to help people just like you grow and achieve your goals.
